The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) in a highly regulated department that services every unit in the hospital. The goal is to be prepared for each and every case that walks through the doors of our facility. As we move forward with trauma, the complexity of the department will continue to increase as we strive to meet the needs of our growing case volumes and need for quick turnovers. Our ability to maintain stability with our outside units is also a priority in addition to meeting the demanding regulatory requirements. The high demands of a very busy OR require the ability to adapt and make reasonable and quick decision making.
Central Sterile Processing is an ancillary department of the Operating rooms within a healthcare facility in which medical/surgical supplies and equipment, both sterile and non-sterile, are decontaminated, processed, sterilized, stored and used for patient care. All this takes place behind the scenes in a sterile lab type setting. The CSPD Trainer role is vital in successfully assisting peers and training new hires.
As a Sterile Processing Technician Trainer, you will bring your experience and passion for health care to our SPD department! This is a Full-Time position, Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm no call required.

This position actively helps others seek new knowledge and skills for personnel and job development. This position will facilitate the assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment and continuing education for the Sterile Processing Team.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Participates in the development of sterile processing technician and certified sterile processing technician technical training materials and tracking tools, and aids in the implementation as appropriate. Locates all necessary policies, standards and Instructions for Use (IFU), interprets and educates information properly.
2. Works closely with Sterile Processing management to identify educational gaps. Develops, coordinates, implements and maintains formularized training plan for all services performed within the Sterile Processing Department.
3. Tracks education enrollment, attendance and completion of activities. Ensures data is maintained timely and accurately.
4. Coordinates and communicates feedback from trainees to ensure training needs are met, including gauging the audience and environment and tailoring the materials as appropriate.
5. Tracks and follows up on the results of evaluations, providing feedback to leadership and suggesting opportunities to enhance training.
6. Participates on system committees in an educational capacity.
7. This position must interact with and support all levels of end users throughout the facility, including technicians, nurses, surgeons, infection prevention and vendors. This position will coordinate activities with facility and system levels. This position will be interacting with all levels of management and staff, and other healthcare members for the purpose of integrating services, improving patient care, utilizing effective training methods, and ensuring effective communication systems throughout the facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge is required.
Requires Certification in Sterile Processing. Must demonstrate at least four years of experience performing in a Certified Sterile Processing Technician role with knowledge of CSPD operating equipment, quality assurance testing, and auditing instrumentation compliance. Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills.
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Must be able to use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer questions posed by customers. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly Sterile Processing Management (SPM) and SurgiNet Scheduling.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years of experience in a role with core and case picking experience.
Two or more years of experience in active service-lines that the facility supports.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
