DescriptionShift: Evening, 3:00pm-11:30pm
Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department and following infection control practices.
Responsibilities- Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of day and records in appropriate log. Runs test packs sterilizer load and records results.
- Receives and cleans soiled instruments and other usable patient supply items in decontamination area. Assembles packages and sterilizes all instruments and equipment.
- Sorts all sterile items, stores in proper place, and organizes sterile supplies. Complies with PPE requirements.
- Effective and efficient use of equipment, supplies and people. Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responding appropriately. Actively participates in departmental/facility PI activities. Works to ensure the department meets regulatory standards.
- Provides services to other areas of hospital and keeps logs. Acts as a resource and provides education on sterilization to hospital.
- Performs related duties as required.
QualificationsRequired:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college or vocational training required
- CSP Tech course required
- Experience: Up to 1 year of work experience required.
- Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
- Sterile Processing certification required through IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
- American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
